I expect them to work hard for those few minutes daily.Īlso they do better if I am in the room with them, they stay more focused that way. I think it is important that they know the time will be very short, because it really does require a high level of concentration. I do find that my boys don’t progress well with typing if they are not doing it very regularly (I schedule it five days a week and sometimes even six if I have a kid who is not progressing) but for short periods of time. The kids really need to do it, but it is very unlikely that they are going to love the process, if you know what I mean. I think of it a lot like drilling math facts. Petitemom, in eleven years of homeschooling I’ve never found a typing program I like better… BUT no matter how you approach it, learning to type is work.
